Participation terms

Version 2026-11-05. These terms are between you and Stacksy Pty Ltd ("Stacksy", "we", "us"), of Perth, Western Australia.

We have tried to keep these short and in plain English. If anything here is unclear, email lab@stacksy.com.au and we will explain it.

1. What the Lab is

The Stacksy Lab is a group of people from outside Stacksy who see our products before they are released and tell us what they think. Places are limited and we choose members so the group covers a spread of industries, business sizes, roles, locations, ages and confidence with technology.

2. Who can apply

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You apply as yourself. One application per person.
  • Applying does not guarantee a place. We may accept, waitlist or decline any application, and we do not have to give a reason, although we will try to.

3. There is no minimum commitment

You never have to attend a session, fill in a form or reply to us. There are no attendance requirements, and you will not lose your place or your software for taking part less. What we ask is that when you do take part, you tell us honestly what you think.

4. The community, and sessions

  • In the Lab, members see each other by the screen name each person chooses. Stacksy staff can see your real name and email address; other members cannot.
  • You choose, each time, whether feedback you send is shared with other members or kept between you and Stacksy.
  • Be decent to each other. Disagree with ideas, not people. Do not share another member's posts or details outside the Lab, and do not try to find out who is behind a screen name if they have chosen not to say.
  • Online sessions run in MaskedRoom, a Stacksy product, under a single-use persona with no camera and no microphone. They are designed so that nobody, including Stacksy, can tell which comment came from which person.

5. Keeping things confidential

  • You will see products, features, designs and plans before they are public. Please keep them to yourself until we release them. That means not sharing screenshots, recordings or descriptions, and not posting about them.
  • This does not cover anything that is already public, or that you knew before we showed you.
  • You can say that you are a member of the Lab.

6. Your feedback

  • We may use your feedback, ideas and suggestions to change or build our products, without paying you and without any further permission. You keep any rights you already had in your own business information.
  • If something you suggested ships, we will offer to credit you in the release notes. Credit is always your choice, and we use your screen name.
  • Feedback in a MaskedRoom session is anonymous, so we cannot credit it unless you tell us afterwards that it was yours.

7. The software you get

  • While you are a member, you get free use of a set of Stacksy products. We choose which products are in the set, and we may change it over time. We will tell you before we remove a product.
  • When you leave, for any reason, including if we end your membership, that free use continues for at least 3 months from the day you leave.
  • After that, each product goes back to its free plan, or to read-only where a product has no free plan. You are never charged unless you choose to pay for something yourself.
  • Each product's own terms of use still apply to how you use it.
  • Pre-release versions can have bugs. Please do not rely on a pre-release feature for anything critical until it is released.

8. Leaving

You can leave at any time, without notice and without giving a reason. Email lab@stacksy.com.au. Your free software continues for at least 3 months as set out in section 7.

9. When we can end a membership

We may end a membership if someone breaks the confidentiality in section 5, treats other members or our team badly, or tries to unmask a member who has chosen not to give their name. We may also close the Lab altogether. In every case, the 3 months of continued software in section 7 still applies.

10. What this is not

  • Being a member is not employment, a contract for services, or a partnership. You are not paid in money, and you do not represent Stacksy.
  • Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Your information

How we collect, use and protect your information is set out in our privacy statement.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email members before the change takes effect. We record which version each person agreed to. If you do not agree with a change, you can leave, and section 7 still applies.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia.
