The Stacksy Lab
See it before it ships.
We build software for teams of 1 to 300 people across sport, health, trades and professional services. The Lab is a small group of people from outside Stacksy who see our products before anyone else, tell us what is wrong with them, and help shape what we build next.
Applications for the first intake are open now.
What you get
- Free use of a set of Stacksy products, chosen by us, for as long as you are in the Lab
- That access continues for at least 3 months after you leave, whenever that is and for whatever reason
- Release notes before they go public
- Credit in the release notes if something you suggested ships, if you want it

What it actually involves
Take part in whatever way suits you. Mostly it is using the software and telling us what you think.
Use it early, tell us what you think
When we are close to releasing something, you get to use it before anyone else. Use it the way you normally would, then tell us what works and what does not, whenever it suits you. A sentence is fine.
Sessions, if you want them
If you would rather talk it through, there is a 45 minute online session. You see the demo, you say what you think. It runs in MaskedRoom, our own anonymous meeting product: you are not on camera, you have no microphone, and you appear under a single-use persona. Even we do not know who said what.
No minimum
There is no minimum. No attendance streaks, no leaderboards, nobody chasing you. Some months you might do nothing at all and nothing changes.
Who we are looking for
This is the part that matters. We are not after a room full of software people.
We want the sole trader in Bunbury. The operations manager in a 200 person business. The club volunteer who has never once enjoyed using software. The person who runs their whole business off a phone. Different industries, different ages, different levels of confidence with technology.
Our products get used by all of those people. The feedback should look like that too.
If you would not describe yourself as techy, you are exactly who we are missing. You do not need to know what a beta is. You need to be willing to say "I have no idea what that button does", which is the hardest and most useful sentence anyone can say to a product team.
How we choose
Places are limited, and we do not select in order of arrival.
We pick for spread, so the group covers a real range of industries, business sizes, roles, locations and levels of experience with software. That means a strong application can be held over simply because its category filled early. If that happens to you it is not a comment on you, and we will say so plainly.
- Industries
- Business sizes
- Roles
- Locations
- Experience with software
A two way street
You give us time and honesty. We give you software and a real say in what we build. Both sides should feel the exchange is fair, and if it ever stops feeling that way you can leave with no notice and keep your access for three months.
Questions
How much time does it take?
As much or as little as you like. Trying something new and sending us a few lines can take ten minutes. Sessions, if you choose to come, are 45 minutes. How often there is something new depends on what we are getting ready to release.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If anything, the less techy you are, the more useful you are to us. Our software is used by people who are busy doing something else, and we need to hear from them.
Do I have to join the online sessions?
No. Plenty of members never come to one. You can simply use the software and send us your feedback when it suits you, by email for now and right here in the Lab once the member area opens. If you do want a session, each one runs twice, and there is a written summary afterwards.
Will anyone know it was me?
Not in a session. You join MaskedRoom under a single-use persona with no camera and no microphone, so nobody, including us, can tell who said what. We know who is in the Lab, but not which comment came from whom.
Is what I see confidential?
Yes. You will see things before they are public, so we ask you to keep them to yourself until we release them. The participation terms say exactly what that means.
Can I leave?
Yes, at any time, with no notice and no reason needed. Send us an email and that is it.
What happens to my free software if I do?
You keep it for at least 3 months after you leave, whatever the reason. After that it goes back to the free plan, or to read only where a product has no free plan. You are never charged unless you choose to pay.
How do I sign in?
With your Stacksy account, the same one that works across every Stacksy product. If you already use one of our products you can sign in with it now. If you are accepted into the Lab and do not have one yet, we set it up for you.
Already in the Lab?
Sign in with your Stacksy account. It is one account for every Stacksy product, and you sign in with a link we email you.
